Cons poor leadership. I loved the kids I worked with, and MOST of the faculty members, but without a credential, even though I have TWO advanced degrees, I was talked down to by teachers regularly and had no opportunities for advancement.

I would be provided written or verbal instruction on what the day would consist of. I would then work with children as a group or individually to complete various assignments throughout the day. I would also help monitor students at play, snack and lunch time. I learned patience with this job, which is extremely important in all aspects of any job. The hardest part of the job was also the most enjoyable, teaching and helping various students with their individual needs often times needing to think quickly to keep students actively engaged.

On the 5th year, just after turning in applications and narratives for 5 different schools, was told they couldn't hire me until i obtained a CLAD Certificate, which was a brand new requirement in the spring of You can pick when you want to work and whenever you don't.

However, summers can be iffy since school is out. They only pay you at the end of the month the next month so you have to think about budgeting a bit. You quickly learn what classes and schools you prefer to work with, which is a plus but before that you're pretty much running blind.
