Werewolf board game rules
To begin the game, the Moderator will ask all players to close their eyes. All players will slap their knees constantly throughout the night, to drown out any noise. The Moderator will ask players to open their eyes one by one, based on their character role. Firstly, the Moderator will ask the Werewolves to open their eyes. The Werewolves are now able to identify other Werewolves and work together throughout the game.
The Moderator will then prompt the Werewolves to choose someone to kill. Once they have agreed on a victim, quietly confirmed by pointing, the Moderator will ask them to close their eyes once again.
Secondly, the Moderator will prompt the Doctor to awaken. The Doctor may now choose someone to heal, hopefully not a Werewolf, because it would waste their turn. If the person chosen by the Doctor is the same person that was chosen by the Werewolves, they will survive. After the Doctor quietly confirms their patient, the Moderator will ask them to go back to sleep.
Thirdly, the Seer is prompted to awaken. Also a villager, the Doctor has the ability to heal themselves or another villager when called awake by the Moderator during the night. Should they heal themselves, then will be safe from being killed by the werewolves, or should they want to prove themselves the Doctor or fear the death of a fellow villager, can opt to heal them instead.
Again, the strategy here is up to you. Included in our set are Wild Cards which can used for additional roles of your choice or to replace a missing card in your deck. Use these card to add an additional werewolf or a character with a special ability or disability. Below are some examples of additional roles we recommend.
The Village Drunk This role, while first and foremost taking on all the elements of a regular Villager throughout the game, also has the additional burden of only being able to communicate with gestures or noises. They may not talk during the day at all, and if they do, automatically die during that night. It may be the strategy of others Werewolves, for instance to pretend to be the Drunk, as the role is so unique and easily recognized. The Witch This role, while first and foremost taking on all the elements of a regular Villager throughout the game, also has the additional powers of one potion and one poison, which they may use at any point throughout the game.
While the Witch can only use their potion and poison once, each action must be said each night to retain anonymity as to what has been done. They can only use one per evening until both are gone, and have the ability to save them until a point in the game they deem fit.
In order for the Moderator to know which of the Werewolves is the Alpha, we recommend having that person raise their hand the first time the Werewolves come awake at night, and making a note. End the night round and identify who was killed. The player returns their card and does not reveal their identity. The moderator can make up a story about how the player was killed. In addition, the player who was killed can perform dramatic death throes. An alternative rule you can use is to have the person killed reveal their character to the rest of the players. Part 3. Have each of the players introduce themselves.
The day phase begins by having each player take a turn talking about themselves in the character of a villager. The werewolf, Doctor, and Seer players are trying to deceive the others into believing that they are normal villagers. Take a vote on which player to kill. After each of the players has introduced themselves, they need to discuss who they believe is a werewolf. The players can say whatever they want. They can promise, swear, lie, try to conceal something, or tell wild stories about who they are.
The moderator then takes a vote, and the player that the majority of players believe is a werewolf is killed. That player is now out of the game. Begin the night round again and play until there is a winner. After the players vote on who they want to kill, that person is out of the game and the next cycle begins.
The players close their eyes and drum on their knees or table. The werewolves choose who they want to kill, the Doctor picks 1 person to save, and the Seer tries to find out if 1 person is a werewolf. The game continues until there is a clear winner. The werewolves win the game if they kill enough villagers to make the numbers even.
